TAU - 16

OVERVIEW

TAU-16 was the eighth entry for the Formula Student UK competition submitted by TAU Racing. The design focus of the TAU-16 car was to develop the chassis design in order to incorporate trailing wishbones, reducing the weight of the overall vehicle with the following targets:

  • Refined rear end packaging design

  • Improved pedal box setup

  • Adapt suspension for trailer wishbone

SPECIFICATIONS:

  • Dimensions: Wheelbase – 1610 mm , Track – 1494 mm. Height – 1009 mm,

  • Weight (no driver): 213.5 kg

  • Weight distribution including 68 kg driver (front/rear): 135.12/146.38

  • Suspension (front/rear): double unequal length a-arm. Pull-rod (front)/ push-rod (rear) actuated springs and dampers, with adjustable anti-roll bar.

  • Tyres: front: 6.2/20.0-13” rear: 7.2/20.0-13” A45 Avon

  • Wheels: 6 x 13” / 7 x 13 Keizer three piece. Aluminium rims with magnesium centres

  • Chassis construction: one piece tubular steel space-frame

  • Engine: Honda CBR600 f4i with custom Life Racing ECU

  • Fuel type: 99 Ron unleaded
